NAUTICAL LICENCE
Nautical licences are valid for 10 years from the date of issue
Validity is reduced to 5 years for those who are over 60 years of age at the time of issue or renewal
Nautical Licence renewal:
A specific medical certificate, for nautical licence, with duty stamp issued by the Local Health Authority or USMAF-SASN

Categories A and B are valid for 8 years
Categories C and D of new construction validity of 10 years

Only the radiotelephone devices installed on pleasure craft used for rental and charter purposes, are required to pay the TV licence fee
VHF radio fee
Devices used for public correspondence are required to pay the VHF licence fee
Craft’s deletion from Pleasure Craft Registers (R.I.D.)
All sail or motor craft up to 10.00 metres overall length can be taken off the registers

A) Correction cards are only compulsory for pleasure craft.
B) Electronic charts compliant with the General Commander of the Harbourmaster Corps dated 10 July 2002, published in the Italian Official Gazette, General Series, no. 193 of 19 August 2002 may be used.
C) In accordance with table D annexed to Ministry of Health Decree no. 279 of 28 May 1988.
D) For daytime navigation up to twelve miles from the coast, a white safety torch may be provided instead of the regulation navigation lights.
E) For craft over 12 metres long, a whistle and a bell are also compulsory (a portable siren is permissible instead of the bell).

For engine rooms or compartments without sprinkler systems the extinguishes required are: for power up to 294 kW: 1 of 13 B;

Notes:
- B indicates the CATEGORY OF FIRE the extinguisher is able to extinguish. The number which precedes it indicates the extinguisher’s extinguishing capacity. The higher the number, the greater the extinguishing capacity. The capacity stated is the minimum required.
- Pleasure craft can also be fitted with extinguishers for fire categories A or C, provided they are also approved for category B fires.
- Explanatory notes to circular series III no. 80 of 30 June 1989 issued by the former General Directorate of Navigation and Marine Traffic.
- For craft with CE marking, extinguishers are already installed on board and specified in the owner’s manual. No routine inspection of extinguishers is required. The check involves verification that the extinguisher is in good condition; any pressure indicator must be in the charged zone (green).
